Senior Project Manager – Healthcare IT
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager – Information Systems to lead and deliver complex, enterprise-level technology projects across our multi-hospital system. The ideal candidate brings strong project governance experience, exceptional leadership skills, and hands-on expertise in clinical system implementations such as Epic or Meditech.
Reporting to senior leadership, the Senior Project Manager will manage full project lifecycles—from scope and budget planning to implementation, training, and go-live support—while ensuring compliance with PPMO methodology and audit requirements.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
Lead and manage end-to-end IS projects following PPMO methodology and standards.
Develop and maintain detailed project scope, schedule, resource plan, and budget.
Manage multiple large, complex, enterprise-wide projects with minimal oversight.
Coordinate project kickoff activities, aligning leadership, stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams.
Governance, Reporting & Documentation
Create and maintain project artifacts including:
Project Charter
Project Plan
Budget Tracker
RACI Matrix
Weekly Status Reports
Steering Committee materials
GLRA and change management documentation
Identify critical path milestones and communicate progress to executive leadership.
Ensure all project documentation meets PPMO audit standards and is stored in the correct repository.
Stakeholder, Vendor & Team Management
Interpret business requirements, SOWs, and functional documents to develop comprehensive project deliverables.
Provide mentorship and oversight to Project Coordinators, PM I, and PM II team members.
Partner with vendors, IS Training, and end-users to ensure successful system deployment.
Implementation, Testing & Go-Live
Facilitate design and planning workshops to define in-scope and out-of-scope requirements.
Oversee testing cycles to ensure system changes are validated and fully functional.
Ensure users receive necessary training, competency validation, and ongoing support.
Support go-live readiness by ensuring super-users and support personnel are in place.
Risk, Quality & Compliance
Proactively identify project risks, dependencies, and gaps; develop mitigation strategies.
Maintain meticulous documentation for internal/external audits.
Ensure adherence to all departmental policies, procedures, and quality standards.
🎯 Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
6+ years of experience managing IT projects within healthcare or enterprise environments.
Hands-on experience gathering business requirements and leading analysis/design activities.
Proven success delivering medium to large-scale IS projects in fast-paced environments.
Preferred
Experience working in a large multi-hospital system.
Clinical project implementation experience (Epic, Meditech preferred).
Strong background in healthcare workflows, end-user training, and system adoption.
Clinical education or clinical operations background.
